A “content” is any piece of digital media or data generated by a user, a system, or a business that can be consumed, shared, or interacted with. Content is no longer just “stuff to watch”; it is the currency of attention, the fuel for the AI, and the foundation of the monetization model. You can find more detail about content here.

What can I do with Content?

Content is the input that drives engagement, also generates behavioral data (likes, skips, watch time). This data is the lifeblood for the machine learning models (the retraining we discussed). The more diverse, high-quality content a platform has, the better its AI can learn, creating a positive feedback loop: better content better recommendations, more time spent and more ad views. Content diversity is essential for matching niche interests. Without a massive pool of content, the recommendation system cannot accurately profile users or provide a fresh feed.

Content can also be used for monetization. Selling high-quality, community-generated content and proprietary data to third parties, especially for training and grounding Large Language Models (LLMs), is the most significant new revenue stream for social platforms in the AI era. selling content to LLMs is the most lucrative revenue source at the AI age. Content is used via Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to ensure the LLM’s responses are based on up-to-date, real-world data and community consensus. Reddit secured a massive licensing deal due to the depth and variety of their text-based content.
